India and South Africa produced another unforgettable ODI classic in the fifth and final match of the thrilling 2000 series at Nagpur.

Batting first, South Africa piled up a massive 320/7, thanks to explosive innings from Herschelle Gibbs (74) and a sensational unbeaten 75 from Lance Klusener*, who transformed the innings with a match-defining partnership alongside Mark Boucher.

India's chase began with an early setback, but Sachin Tendulkar (93 off 89) and Rahul Dravid (79 off 70) stitched together a breathtaking 180-run partnership, bringing India right back into the contest. Tendulkar also crossed 9,000 ODI runs, becoming only the second player to achieve the milestone.

After both set batsmen fell in quick succession, India continued to fight through Saba Karim and Robin Singh, taking the match deep into the final overs. However, Lance Klusener returned with the ball to claim 3 wickets and held his nerve under pressure as South Africa secured a dramatic 10-run victory, finishing the series 3-2.
