The day/night ODI at Napier on January 12 produced a tense finish as India edged past New Zealand by two wickets in a low-scoring thriller during the India tour of New Zealand.
After winning the toss, India put New Zealand in to bat. With Stephen Fleming sidelined through injury, Nash led the hosts as Matt Horne and Craig McMillan stitched together a rapid 76-run partnership in just 14 overs, threatening to set up a commanding total. However, New Zealand’s innings dramatically unravelled as they suffered five run-outs, equalling the all-time record for run-outs in a single ODI innings.
Despite disciplined bowling and sharp fielding from New Zealand, their total of 213 proved slightly below par. India’s chase was far from smooth, marked by uneven batting and regular setbacks, but calm heads in the lower order guided them home off the penultimate ball, sealing a narrow victory.

At Sharjah on April 19, 1994, India produced a memorable upset victory over Australia, winning by seven wickets in a thrilling ODI clash. This was India’s first match under the management of Sunil Gavaskar, who stepped in after Ajit Wadekar suffered a heart attack.

India’s chase was anchored by a brilliant 130-run partnership between Ajay Jadeja (Man of the Match) and Navjot Sidhu after Sachin Tendulkar fell early. In the final overs, Vinod Kambli shifted the momentum completely—hitting two fours and two sixes in a single over off Shane Warne.
A complete team performance delivered a confident win for India against a strong Australian side.

India returned to action after their Champions Trophy struggle in Sharjah — and produced a strong comeback in Guwahati on December 22, 1997, defeating Sri Lanka by seven wickets with five overs to spare.
Play began late due to heavy morning mist, making early conditions perfect for the Indian seamers. Debasis Mohanty struck with three early wickets while Javagal Srinath kept things tight from the other end. Sri Lanka struggled throughout, held together only by Roshan Mahanama’s gritty 165-minute innings.
The rest of the lineup fell to Robin Singh, who took a brilliant 5-wicket haul and earned the Man of the Match award.
Chasing a modest target, India needed only four an over. After early wickets, Sachin Tendulkar took charge with a superb 82 off 86 balls, crossing 1,000 ODI runs in 1997 — adding to his 1,000 Test runs in the same year.
A dominant performance and a perfect bounce back from Sharjah.

One of the most chaotic and unforgettable endings in ODI history unfolded at Georgetown on April 21, 1999, when Australia vs West Indies ended in a dramatic tie after pitch invasion chaos on the final ball.
Chasing 174 in a rain-reduced 30-over match, Australia were struggling at 119 for 7 before Steve Waugh and Shane Warne produced a sensational recovery, taking their team to the brink of victory. With six runs needed off the final ball, Waugh struck the ball to long-on and attempted a desperate third run — but invading spectators stormed the field, preventing the run-out from being completed.
After consultations between captains and officials, referee Raman Subba Row declared the match officially tied, a decision that sparked debate and remains controversial to this day.
Earlier, Ridley Jacobs and Williams had lifted West Indies to 173, while Merv Dillon’s fiery spell rattled Australia’s top order. With Brian Lara absent due to injury, Jimmy Adams captained the West Indies in this extraordinary encounter.
📌 A rare blend of cricketing brilliance, chaos, and controversy — this match is remembered as one of the strangest tied ODIs ever played.

The stage was set for Sachin Tendulkar’s farewell to his home crowd — but it was Murali Kartik, India’s forgotten spinner, who stole the spotlight with a match for the ages.
Kartik produced a magical spell of 6 for 27, the best-ever bowling by an Indian vs Australia, dismantling the world champions and restricting them to 193 all out. His guile and flight deceived the Aussies, taking out Hodge, Symonds, Haddin, Hogg, Lee, and Hopes in a mesmerizing display of left-arm spin.
Then, when India’s batting collapsed to 64/6, Kartik returned with the bat — joining Zaheer Khan in a 52-run ninth-wicket stand that sealed a thrilling victory.
With the crowd roaring every defensive push, India’s underdogs chased down the target with four overs to spare — a perfect script for a memorable Wankhede night.

What is America? Just a huge, spacious and naturally wild country - or is it still a project? And who are the Americans? A torn nation of people without roots and history - or more than all of this? What unites, what divides, what characterises and what changes them? How different are their daily lives, even now, in the icy cold, snowbound winter - depending on whether they live on Maine's remote outer islands, or in arctic Deadhorse, near the Great Lakes or in the prairies of the mid-West, in the Blackfoot reservation in the Rocky Mountains, or on board a yacht from Seattle?
To discover America's characteristics and their transition - always with a view to the people and how they perceive "home" - Klaus Scherer travels through his host country on a route hitherto neglected by previous reporters: along the north border. Thus, a program event is created, whose highly visual landscape and nature photographs, along with personal experiences, connect with those we meet, visit and accompany along the way - from the dwarf school on Monehegan Island, to the head gaffer of the Niagara Falls; from wolf and bear monitors in Idaho, to the ice fishers at the Arctic Circle.

Race of Life - Episode 6: Run Like the Wind | Wildlife Documentary
Watch 'Race of Life - Episode 7' here: https://youtu.be/4i5xUFJgp0U
With predators practically always on the lookout for a meal, prey must constantly avoid being eaten. Any defensive adaptation that prey can utilize adds to the chances of survival for its species. Some adaptations are defense mechanisms which can give the prey an advantage against their enemies. The first is very direct and comes naturally. Animals can use speed as a very effective means of escaping predators. In the evolutionary history of big herbivores and the carnivores that prey upon them, the phrase “arms race”is only technically a metaphor. Antelope are literally born to run, and many of the things that chase them, such as the cheetah, are either masters of endurance or champion sprinters. The evolutionary story almost writes itself: over millions of years of chasing, and being chased, wherever predators evolved to move quickly, their prey were selected to run even faster. Except of course there’s more to life than running for your life. An antelope’s frame is under more demands than evading cheetahs—it also needs to travel long distances to follow food availability with the shifting rainy season. The ostrich meanwhile stands at one extreme of bird evolution, for although unable to fly, of all the birds the ostrich runs the fastest race of life. More peculiar still is the Golden Wheel spider, the only creature known to turn itself into a wheel in order to get away from trouble. There are many ways to win the race, when the goal is always survival.

The Most Emotional Wildlife Moments | Wildlife Documentary
Watch 'Wildlife Laws: Only the Fastest Will Survive' here: https://youtu.be/_m4MHlQHESo
Wildlife filmmakers experience many emotionally touching moments on their expeditions while observing their main characters over a longer period of time. A lucky moment for Oliver Goetzl and Ivo Nörenberg in the Yellowstone National Park: When a wolf appears they give up on a lone newborn bison. But at the very last moment, its mother arrives and saves it. On an expedition in the Himalayas, Henry Mix is able to find Bengal tigers. A kangaroo mother even allows Thoralf Grospitz to film its tiny baby in her pouch. But they witness sad moments as well: On the Arctic Wrangel Island, Uwe Anders has to watch a snowy owl mother stop feeding one of her two chicks due to the shortage of food that year.
This documentary series shows the most touching and the most heart-breaking moments wildlife filmmakers have experienced all over the world.

The Wonderful Wildlife of Sardinia | Free Nature Documentary
Sardinia has always been the epitome of pure wilderness, an emerald of volcanic origin in the Mediterranean. 1900 meters of coastline and an infinite maze of offshore islands. But Sardinia also has other facets: green valleys, rugged mountains, murmuring brooks, mysterious ruins and a unique fauna.
Just off of Sardinia's coast is an untouched underwater paradise - uniquely beautiful, but also dangerous. Pilot whales, dolphins and mobula rays populate the waters at Capo Testa in the north of the island. In the west, the lagoons of Cabras represent a wild landscape of lakes in which thousands of flamingos live and hunt the red brine shrimps. In addition to the flamingos, grey and purple herons and little egrets breed here. Thousands of bats have found refuge in the craggy mountain world of the Supramonte and Gennargentu, with their countless grottoes and caves.
In the sea we can observe the mass mating of sea slugs, and thanks to our camera robots and submersible boats we were able to observe beard worms with luminous red gills, as well as bright yellow tree corals in the area surrounding the hypothermal lava holes.

Everyone needs a place to live, but some aren't happy with the great outdoors, they look for some home comforts - they use extraordinary specialist building skills to construct the perfect home. Homes have many uses. They can prove a bolthole to escape predators, a safe nursery in which to raise young, a food store and a shelter from bad weather.
Animals of many shapes and sizes build their own homes. Perhaps the biggest construction projects are those undertaken by ants. Hundreds of thousands work together to construct their home.
Small mammals are expert diggers. Meerkats and hamsters both excavate elaborate tunnels where they can stay out of harm's way and raise their young, though the hamster likes to work alone while the meerkats prefer to have the company of an entire clan.
When it comes to making a nursery, it’s birds who steal the show. In just a few days they can construct a basket of twigs - a nest that can support their growing family and keep them out of harm's way.
There is one other good builder in the animal kingdom - us. Did we learn our skills from the animal home builders?

Race of Life - Episode 13: Predators After Dark | Wildlife Documentary
Watch 'Race of Life - Episode 1' here: https://youtu.be/fZwGK5Kw7wk
Finally for this series, we look deep into the darkness to examine creatures that live in the shadows and the adaptations they need to survive. Nocturnal animals have taken to this dark world for good reason: they can escape predators, avoid the heat of the day, and take their turn sharing food and resources in their ‘niche’. But which animals come out at night? How do they find food in the dark? Where do they go during the day? Nocturnal animals have some fascinating ways to survive in the dark. Spend a night on an exploratory tour with porcupines, raccoons, mice, and cats as their day begins, while the rest of the world goes to sleep. The world of the night is a world of fear, excitement and survival. Every animal adapted to live in the dark is a specialised survivor. The raccoon will eat almost anything and has a hyper-sensitive sense of touch. A wheat field hides thousands of mice – surviving as a team thanks to their speed, camouflage and enormous families. The arctic is home to both white fox and a red fox, each running their race of life side by side. Australia, sometimes known as the oldest continent of all, has a unique collection of nocturnal animals, each running their own race of life after dark. And almost every continent has the porcupine, a prickly survivor who loves fruit and is very good at defending itself.
