In a scene that echoed the previous year, a packed Eden Gardens witnessed another India vs West Indies showdown under lights — and once again, India delivered a commanding victory. This time, after choosing to bat first, India produced a clinical, confident performance to win by 72 runs and seal the Wills World Series.

Openers Sachin Tendulkar and Ajay Jadeja set the tone with a fluent century stand, Tendulkar providing the spark with a brilliant 66 off 68 balls, while Jadeja anchored the innings. The momentum only grew stronger as Mohammad Azharuddin and Vinod Kambli took over, piling further pressure on the West Indies attack. Kambli shifted gears late, counterattacking to finish with an explosive 58 off 40 balls, taking India to a strong total of 275.
