Sourav Ganguly produced a brilliant unbeaten 73 off just 52 balls as India defeated Bangladesh by 9 wickets in the 1997 Pepsi Asia Cup at the Sinhalese Sports Club, Colombo.
After winning an important toss in a rain-affected encounter, India restricted Bangladesh to 130 in 43 overs. Needing to chase the target inside 20 overs to qualify for the final ahead of Pakistan on net run rate, India completed the chase in just 15 overs.
Ganguly dominated the chase with elegant strokeplay and was deservedly named Player of the Match, while Sachin Tendulkar's captaincy guided India into the Asia Cup final.
