Virender Sehwag once again gave India a flying start with a breathtaking half-century as India defeated New Zealand by 53 runs (Duckworth-Lewis Method) in the 2nd ODI at McLean Park, Napier, in 2009.
After rain reduced the contest to 38 overs per side, Sehwag smashed a quickfire 61 off 41 balls, while Suresh Raina (66)* and MS Dhoni (76)* stitched together a brilliant unbeaten 110-run partnership to power India to 273/4.
In reply, New Zealand never recovered after early wickets. Martin Guptill fought with 64, but Harbhajan Singh's three wickets in four balls, along with disciplined bowling from Zaheer Khan, Praveen Kumar, and Yuvraj Singh, sealed another comprehensive victory for India.
