Animal Armory - Episode 5: Spits & Stings | Animal Documentary
Watch 'Animal Armory - Episode 6' here: https://youtu.be/KxT2pGKsig8
For many species in the animal kingdom, spitting and stinging is a vital tool for self-defense and in the pursuit of prey. Animal Armory takes a closer look at the mighty instruments of destruction and the animals that wield them with absolute precision.
In Arctic waters, the walrus depends on its ability to spit in order to feed. The cobra projects its venomous saliva to blind its predators. Spitting provides the jawfish with a home – and a means to defend it. Putting their lives on the line, bees will use stings to attack any threat to their colony. Jellyfish trawl their stingers through the world’s oceans to subdue prey and ward off predators. The echidna is constantly protected by their densely packed, needle-like armor of spines. The Stingray’s powerful, barbed tail and potent venom is the stuff of legends, and the carnivorous centipede is granted access to a wide range of prey thanks to its paralyzing sting.

Vicious Beauties - The Secret World of the Jellyfish | Ocean Documentary
The family of the jellyfish or medusae are not only the most venomous ocean inhabitants but also some of the deepest divers. Medusae have been found as deep as 8.300 meters. Their existence is paramount to the oceans. Many of the large migrations of fish and mammals would not be possible without the existence of jellies. They are a crucial part of the food chain, many fish feed on jellies and in turn mammals or larger migratory predators feed on fish. The scientist Gerhard Jarms of the Zoological Institute of the University of Hamburg takes us on a journey into the exotic world of jellyfish. He is one of the most renowned medusae scientists in the world. Our expedition begins in the northern Atlantic where we will find the mysterious periphylla. We will continue on to the Azores in the Atlantic. There we will search for the XY jellies that seek shelter in caves in rough seas.
In the Pacific we will swim with the jellies in the famous Jellyfish Lake and last but not
least we will explore some of the world's most beautiful coral reefs of western Papua. And at the very end danger lurks around every corner as we set out to search off Australia's coast for the fatal sea wasp- one of the most poisonous ocean inhabitants. Wild River Rhine | Nature Documentary
Watch 'Wild Germany: The Mecklenburg Lake Plateau' here: https://youtu.be/yF1C35-wP6o
There is hardly any other river in Germany that is surrounded by as many myths and legends as the river Rhine. No other river has been the topic of songs, has been painted and travelled equally frequently.
Despite this it still seems to be true today what the French poet Victor Hugo once said about this river – the Rhine is a river everybody talks about, nobody explores, everybody visits but no one really knows. It is the second longest river in Central and Western Europe after the Danube. Medieval castles, important industrial sites and lush vineyards - this is what river Rhine is famous for.
This river however is much more than what man had made it. Even though man has settled next to the river and the stream has been used as means of transportation for thousands of years, it's banks still host a stunning variety of wildlife habitats. Alluvial forests, roaring waterfalls, steep canyons and sunny slopes flank the river along its some 1230km. The variety of habitats is the reason for the large biodiversity along the stream.
The film follows the water against the stream. Starting at its delta in the Netherlands it runs through six countries until its place of origin in the Swiss Alps. This film about the Rhine is unique because of its focus on the Fauna and Flora that exists alongside the stream. Beavers and Seals, Capricorns and Lizards, Wild boar and White-throated dipper are among the animal stars of this film.

Wild Ecuador: Incredible Creatures from Amazon to Galápagos | Free Documentary Nature
Ecuador is a natural crossroads where three worlds collide: the Amazon rainforest, the Andes mountains, and the remote Galápagos Islands. We follow life as it changes with altitude and isolation—from misty cloud forests packed with birds and hidden amphibians, to spectacled bears descending for wild avocados. Then journey 1,000 km offshore to volcanic islands where marine iguanas dive for algae, sea lions raise pups, penguins hunt in cold currents, and albatrosses fight to keep a single egg alive. Yet we know this mega-biodiversity has a clock ticking: deforestation, warming seas, and shifting currents are pushing ecosystems to the edge.

Wild Indonesia - Episode 1: Islands of Monsters | Wildlife Documentary
Watch 'Wild Indonesia - Episode 2' here: https://youtu.be/zL3wgnutlnc
In this episode:
Borneo is the worlds third largest island, and Sumatra is no dwarf in comparison. Both islands became cut off from the Asian mainland when sea levels rose at the end of the last ice age 12,000 years ago. Large animals became marooned, isolated from their mainland cousins. Over time, they have adapted and evolved to their new home developing an array of unique traits on each island. Today, these are the Islands of Monsters.
The 17,000 islands that comprise the nation of Indonesia stretch more than 3,000 miles along the equator, bridging Asia and Australasia. Indonesia’s natural habitats vary widely. On some islands, tropical forests climb from steamy lowlands to mountain slopes. On others, parched savannah thrives. Coral reefs line thousands of tranquil atolls, while relentless waves batter rocky cliffs on other shores. In Papua, the mountains reach so high that permanent ice caps top their peaks, surrounded by barren alpine tundra. These wildly ranging habitats are home to an incredible number and diversity of living creatures - this iconic and landmark series is a celebration of Indonesia’s most spectacular locations and incredible wildlife.

Animal Armory - Episode 4: Lethal Poison | Animal Documentary
Watch 'Animal Armory - Episode 5' here: https://youtu.be/h20IRyTy1yc
In the wild, it can take more than size, teeth and brute force to come out on top. There are some creatures in the animal kingdom that are deadly to humans and animals alike – and some are no bigger than two inches long. These are animals that use venom and poison to attack, defend and hunt. The funnel-web spider latches onto its victim and bites repeatedly, unleashing enough venom to kill an adult human in less than half an hour. The stonefish and the blue-ringed octopus both expertly blend into the sea floor, and use their deadly venom when threatened. The rattlesnake and gila monster employ toxic bites, while the scorpion uses it’s whip-like tail to deliver a stinging blow. The cane toad’s poisonous skin means they have few predators, allowing them to reach plague-like proportions. Animal Armory takes a closer look at these mighty instruments of destruction and the animals that wield them with absolute precision.

Germany's Wild Birds - Rulers of the Air | Wildlife Documentary
Birds are truly universal and can be found almost everywhere on our planet!
By monitoring ten interesting bird-watching locations, we document not only the silver herons in the Westerwald, but also the last great bustards in Havelland. Then there are the great crested grebes in their splendid plumages, shown building their nests and during courtship, in an area of extinct volcanoes: the Eiffel.
Add to this, exotic wild birds and colorful parakeets, the newest members of the population in a park in Wiesbaden. We have resting migratory birds, ducks and waders on the west banks of the Steinhuder Lake.
On the border to the Netherlands, in the moorlands near Münster, we find the only wild flamingos in Germany. Equally interesting are the fire geese, avocets and many birds of the coastal region not far from Hamburg harbor.
At Federsee Lake in Upper Swabia, we observe the inhabitants of the extensive reed zones: bearded tits. Then we have the birds of fortune, the cranes, which interrupt their long journeys by resting on the Baltic coast. Last, but not least, in the Feldberg lake region we accompany the ranger on an exciting sea eagle excursion.
With this film, you are invited to experience a journey through the wonderful world of birds.

The Big Blue - Ocean Stories from Down Under | Episode 2: Goat Island | Ocean Documentary
Watch 'The Big Blue - Episode 3' here: https://youtu.be/udB7QH45IeQ
In this episode:
Our Big Blue Backyard visits Goat Island, one of New Zealand's oldest marine reserves. Although the creatures are safe from humans it doesn't mean their life is easy.
This series dives deep into the seas to discover stunning stories of New Zealand’s native ocean animals. The series travels south to north, exploring six very special environments: it’s great white shark versus little blue penguins in the southern oasis of Stewart Island; a fur-seal summer off New Zealand’s wild west coast; a day out with the athletic Dusky Dolphins of Kaikoura; quality time with the big old snapper and crayfish of Goat Island; drama in the egg nurseries of the stunning Poor Knights Islands as parents try to protect their young , and predator versus prey as surfing Orcas travel the golden harbours of Northland, searching for their stingray victims. The range and behaviours of these species in such close proximity is fascinating; from the giant to the tiny and the acrobatic to the rock scrapers - there is plenty of action in these aquatic communities. Orcas and mud crabs, seals and crayfish play out their lives as close neighbours and their stories weave together to reveal entertaining animal dramas.
