The Baltics: Untouched Animal Paradise | Free Wildlife Documentary

Watch "The Baltic Coast: Wild Animal Paradise": https://youtu.be/MNnVC3oPZC8

The wide, often untouched wilderness of the Baltic hinterland is home to many animals. More than 350 brown bears live in the primeval forests of Alutaguse. In the spring, the Soomaa National Park transforms into a huge lake. Europe's widest waterfall is located in Latvia. In the beginning of May, vimba bream follow the course of the River Venta. The hardly 50-centimetre-long fish have to overcome a 400-metre-long rock barrier in order to reach their spawning grounds.
The Baltics are rich in superlatives: a fifth of the world's spotted eagle stocks breed here. One of the largest courtship arenas for snipes is located here in the floodplains of Latvia. More than 1000 wolves go on the hunt in Latvia's forests. Lithuania is the land of storks - with over 13.000 pairs, no other region in the Baltic States has more white storks.

Blue Realm - Episode 3: Humpbacks in danger: From Tonga to Antarctica
Singing louder than any animal on earth, humpback whales are famous for their haunting songs and jaw-dropping acrobatics. They were hunted to the brink of extinction until a moratorium on killing them was implemented in the 1960s. But after finally rebounding in numbers, whaling nations are exploring ways to re-open the hunt. In Antarctica, Japan is targeting minke, fin, and now... humpbacks.
The tiny island nation of Tonga in the remote South Pacific is a haven for the magnificent mammals. With few natural resources or other means of income, the country is considering opening its waters to foreign whaling fleets in exchange for hard currency. The merits and legitimacy of scientific whaling by Japan and other nations is hotly debated. The iconic species is a favorite of whale watchers from Alaska to Mexico and the stage is set for an epic battle between whalers and conservationists. Humpbacks: From Tonga to Antarctica also features Paul Watson of the Sea Shepherd Society.

Whale Warriors: Saving Humpbacks - One Louse at a Time | Ocean Documentary

Watch 'Sperm Whales - Titans of the Deep' here: https://youtu.be/RhcFCONHZvA

If you want to know more about the infinitesimally large, you need to study the infinitesimally small. That is what Laurent Soulier, a parasitologist specialized in marine mammals, believes. He probably can save entire populations of humpback whales by analyzing their lice. But firstly he needs to collect them from living cetaceans. This is a very dangerous mission. A whale weighs 40 tons. Even though they are not aggressive, these animals are unpredictable. The pressure exercised by their fluke can knock out a diver, without even touching him! Laurent will also have to figure out a way to take such tiny parasites from their skin. With the help of a local fisherman and an underwater field expert, will Laurent succeed in his quest? From his lab in France to the waters of New Caledonia, Laurent takes us on an exceptional adventure that could save the last humpbacks...

Wildlife Laws: The Better Hunter Wins | Wildlife Documentary

Watch 'Wildlife Laws: The Better Swimmer Wins' here: https://youtu.be/zIdAyOq9CMA

Baby animals beguile with their innocent charm. But while some remain harmless, others have a deep-rooted instinct. It may take weeks or months of training to hone their skills, but in every corner of the globe predators emerge. Their landscapes and lifestyles maybe very different, but these babies are born to hunt.
Predators come in all shapes and sizes, from tiny but hardy Arctic foxes to snowy owls, speedy cheetahs, agile pumas and mighty polar bears. They will all face their own unique set of challenges before they earn their titles as top predators.
Fox cubs must learn to hunt, but their Arctic home is teaming with bird-life during the summer and geese and gulls often end up on the menu. For a while the cubs have it easy, but the summer is short-lived this far north and before long they will need to leave their mothers and face the harsh reality of winter alone - with a ticking clock they must learn to hunt. But while foxes rely on cunning, cheetah cubs must get the hang of running fast; they are destined to become the fastest runners on earth and will use their skills to chase down nimble gazelles. In fact by working together, young cheetahs are able to go after larger prey - joining forces to outsmart an aggressive ostrich or even to take down a large wildebeest.
No matter whether they are born to the forest or plains or even the frigid tundra, every landscape has its predators, and though it may not be easy at first, with a little help from their mothers all are born to hunt.

Jersey - Sunny Island in the English Channel | Free Nature Documentary

Jersey - the Channel Island is one of the areas under british rule that can boast the most hours of annual sunshine. Not that Dave Cowburn cares very much. He works in the dark, cool ducts of an old bunker from World War II. Here he breeds turbot and is very successful at it, too.
The "Jersey Royal", the regal potato, has been grown on the island since 1880, fertilized with seaweed from the surrounding ocean. In the third generation, Christine Hellio manages approximately 20 hectares on the coast. "The potato is our most important export commodity", she says. It is harvested by hand, as machines cannot be used on the steep fields. The price is quite regal, too: One kilogram costs 6 Euros.
Hugh Gill is one of around 240 voluntary police officers on Jersey. The Honorary Police is regarded as the oldest organised police system in the world. Hugh works for them for one week every month. On the green lanes, the streets of Jersey, the speed limit is 15 miles per hour.
Jersey has an immense tidal range and with up to 13 metres difference, it is the world's third largest. This is good for a rarity: the Ormer - one of the world's most expensive species of snail.

Saving Amazonia - Part 2: Indigenous Internet Warriors | Nature Documentary

Watch 'Saving Amazonia - Part 1' here: https://youtu.be/IrdtMeGoxPo

“The Internet is our weapon. We gave up fighting with bows and arrows a long time ago,” says Benki Piyako, son of the chief of the Ashaninka in the Brazilian rainforest. “We all need to be interconnected if we want to live in safety on our territory.” The Ashaninka live on the border of Brazil and Peru. Their region is rich in tropical wood and regularly attracts illegal logging gangs. When the Indians confront the logging mafia their villages are attacked and the villagers killed or driven away.

That all started to change a few years ago when a Brazilian NGO began equipping isolated indigenous communities with Internet stations. This enabled the rainforest inhabitants to ask the authorities directly for assistance when they need it. Illegal woodcutters are now apprehended because the military and the police can get to the Indians’ territory very quickly and catch the raw materials pirates red-handed. This gave a significant boost to the fight for the rights of the indigenous population, and the Ashaninka in particular made the headlines, because they are a living example of how to combine Indian traditions with the modern mindset and responsibility for the environment.

Today the chief’s two sons, Benki and Moises Piyako, are working hard to provide more and more Indian communities with the Internet. They also founded an environment school where they teach sustainable farming methods, made their villages self-sufficient again, started with the reforestation and found allies in the organisations that have been springing up in growing numbers in Brazil’s cities since the Rio summit.

Wildlife Moments - The World's Weirdest Animals | Wildlife Documentary

Watch 'The Most Emotional Wildlife Moments' here: https://youtu.be/9czmcenMksI

Nature has many creatures on offer and it’s the weirder animals that sometimes fascinate us most. Ants in Australia's outback use specialised workers as living honey pots. In Africa, in the endless Bangweulu wetlands of Zambia, the shoebill is on the hunt for fish, a bird that definitely lives up to its name. Finally in the Brazilian rainforests lurk strange river creatures in the Amazon abyss that send shivers down the spine of even the most experienced divers. But there are also intense human-animal-relationships like the close bond between a German diver and a female dolphin who explore the Atlantic off the coast of Ireland, or the "easy rider" in California who has taken care of an African elephant bull for more than 25 years.

Weird! is a breath-taking journey to visit animals around the globe who are somehow different.

Cascadia - A Place Where Giants Roam | Wildlife Documentary

Watch 'Blue Planet: The Fascinating World Beneath the Waves' here: https://youtu.be/CnmLgezy3jc

Olympic National Park was founded in 1938 and is located in the western part of the US state of Washington on the Olympic Peninsula. Since 1976 the national park has also been designated as a UNESCO biosphere reserve. In 1981 UNESCO declared it a World Heritage Site. Since the national park is located on a remote peninsula, some animal and plant species have developed here that can only be found here in the park. For this reason, the park is a popular research area for biologists and zoologists.

The national park consists of two separate parts. The coastline is very rugged and often shrouded in fog. Inland, the forest connects directly to the beaches, which often leads to fallen tree trunks lying across the beach. The core area of the park is the mountainous region around the Olympic Mountains, which is covered by many ancient glaciers. To the west of it are temperate rainforest up to the park boundary, here lies the wettest point in the contiguous United States.
