VHS 1256 b is located in the constellation Corvus, approximately 40 light-years away. It orbits not one, but two stars that are in close proximity to one another. The planet is roughly four times as far away from its stars as Pluto is from our Sun.

Binary star systems are systems where two stars are in orbit around a common center of mass. These systems can be quite diverse in terms of the types of stars involved, their separation, and other characteristics.

The combination of variations in the brightness of the planet over time and the varied cloud layers in the spectrum suggest to tumultuous weather on VHS 1256 b. "These observations show that the planet's cloud patterns change fairly quickly," Beth Biller of the University of Edinburgh in Scotland remarked. If the researchers took more and longer views of the planet, they would notice that the spectrum shape changes as the locations of the clouds change, indicating that the clouds are swiftly shifting through the planet's atmosphere throughout its 22-hour rotation.

It was found by NASA's Kepler spacecraft, which is designed to look for exoplanets by watching a star's light dimming as a planet passes in front of it.

Because of its resemblance to Earth, Kepler-452b is commonly referred to as "cousin" or "older cousin." NASA announced it on July 2015. Kepler-452b has the following important characteristics:


Kepler-452b has a diameter that is roughly 1.5 times that of Earth, making it a super-Earth. It is expected to be rocky, similar to Earth.

It has an orbital period of around 385 days, which is quite near to Earth's orbital period of 365 days.

Kepler-452, the star around which Kepler-452b orbits, is identical to our Sun, but slightly older. This closeness in star properties suggests that Kepler-452b may have circumstances conducive to the presence of liquid water.

TOI 700 e is the latest planetary discovery in this solar system. In 2020, three other planets were also found orbiting the star TOI 700. Named TOI 700 b, TOI 700 c and TOI 700 d, they too are believed to orbit within the so-called optimistic habitable zone.
TOI 700 is a red dwarf 101.4 light-years away from Earth located in the Dorado constellation that hosts TOI 700 d, the first Earth-sized exoplanet in the habitable zone discovered by the Transiting Exoplanet Survey Satellite.
TOI-700 d is a super Earth exoplanet that orbits an M-type star. Its mass is 1.25 Earths, it takes 37.4 days to complete one orbit of its star, and is 0.1633 AU from its star. Its discovery was announced in 2020.
