At least 25 people, including staff and tourists, were killed in a massive fire at a nightclub in Arpora, North Goa. The blaze, suspected to have started from a cylinder explosion, engulfed the kitchen and basement, causing most fatalities due to suffocation.

Authorities, including the Goa Police, have launched an investigation into safety violations, emergency exits, and gas connections. Chief Minister Pramod Sawant visited the site, overseeing rescue operations and ordering a formal inquiry.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi and President Droupadi Murmu expressed grief. PM announced ex-gratia compensation of Rs. 2 lakh for families of the deceased and Rs. 50,000 for the injured. The nightclub has been sealed, and questioning of owners and management is ongoing.
